General Parking Information

When you are driving and parking on the Worcester State University campus, you should always show consideration for pedestrians, who have the right-of-way, and be aware that persons with disabilities.

Students are urged to use on-campus parking or the satellite parking lot at 140 Goddard Memorial Drive and to respect the University's neighbors by not parking on neighborhood streets. 

All vehicles parked on the Worcester State University campus or satellite lots are required to have a valid parking decal or visitor permit. The decal must be securely affixed to rear-driver-side passenger window. Visitor passes should be displayed on the vehicle's dashboard.

Parking decals are not transferable from one vehicle to another, and any attempt to do so may result in ticketing and/or towing at the owner's expense. It is the responsibility of students, faculty and staff to insure that when parking a vehicle on campus or in the satellite lots, it has a valid decal or day permit on display. In the event you have a rental car or a substitute vehicle, you may obtain a temporary pass from the parking clerk for the vehicle for no more than 10 days. Additional decals can be received for a second vehicle at OneCard office located on the first floor of the Shaughnessy Administration Building.

Commuters must remove all motor vehicles after 12 a.m. and cannot be on campus before 5 a.m., unless a valid overnight pass has been issued by a University Security Officer or University Police employee.


Campus parking lots are provided for Worcester State University students, faculty, staff and persons conducting official business with the University. Additional parking is available in the Temple lot on May Street and the satellite location at 140 Goddard Memorial Drive.

Parking areas on campus fall into the following categories:

  • Faculty: F decal allows parking in faculty spaces as well as commuter surface lots.
  • Staff: E decal allows parking in staff spaces as well as commuter surface lots.
  • Resident: R decal allows parking on designated floors (4, 5 and 6) of the parking garage.

During daytime hours of operation (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.), some spaces are reserved for use by faculty, staff and visitors. Any reserved sign not indicating a time frame is 24 hours/365 days a year.

  • Commuter: C decal permits parking in student surface lots, satellite lots and designated floors in the parking garage.
  • Handicapped: Vehicle must have valid handicapped placard/plate issued by the RMV displayed with the holder on campus.
  • Vendor: V decal permits parking in student surface lots, satellite lots, upper-resident lot student spaces and garage.
  • Visitor: Parking is allowed in student surface lots for non-students and non-employees visiting the campus with a valid visitor permit displayed on the dashboard.
  • Contractors: Should report to the Facilities Department room L-36 on the first floor of the Learning Resource Center to obtain parking hang tags.

Authorized Parking Space

The responsibility of finding an authorized parking space rests with the driver.

Lack of space, mechanical problems and inclement weather conditions are not considered valid excuses for failure to comply with traffic and parking regulations.

Parking is by permit only in authorized parking spaces.

All vehicles entering Worcester State University property with or without a permit must have a valid registration, valid emissions sticker and valid insurance.

All unlined areas on Worcester State University properties are considered fire lanes and may not be used for parking for any reason or any length of time unless directed by the WSU Police Department.

Parking in an illegal area may result in citations and/or towing at the owner's expense.

Parking Permit Rules

Permit Holder's Agreement:
Upon qualifying for and accepting a parking permit, all permit holders agree that they fully understand and will abide by all Worcester State University parking and traffic regulations.

Failure to adhere to these regulations may result in penalties. Parking permits are required throughout the academic year for day, evening and weekend classes. Expired permits must be removed from vehicle display when a permit is renewed.

Lost permits and/or hang tags must be formally reported to the Worcester State University Police Department in writing before a new permit can be acquired. Filing a false report may result in the permit holder's forfeiture of ability to acquire future parking permit privileges from Worcester State University. Parking is permitted in designated areas assigned to specific permit category.

Parking Space Availability

There are campus parking spaces available at Worcester State University as well as additional spaces in the Temple lot on May Street and satellite location at 140 Goddard Memorial Drive.

A parking permit does not guarantee the holder a parking space in a particular lot or garage. Drivers should be aware that parking spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-use basis within each parking area.

Handicapped Parking

Motor vehicles displaying a valid handicapped license plate or official placard from the Registry of Motor Vehicles are allowed to park in designated handicapped parking spaces on the main campus.
