College Level Math

This test measures your ability to solve problems that involve college- level mathematics concepts. This can include any topics from Algebra II or Pre-Calculus, such as lines and slope, functions, trigonometry, logarithms, graphing, etc.

Below are five sample questions representing the level of material.

1: f(x) = 3x – 5 and g(x) = 2x2 – 6x then g(f(-1)) =

A)1     B) 30     C) 144     D)176     E)49

2: cos–1 (1) + sin(1) csc(1)

A) 1     B)0     C)90     D)-1     E)2

3: Find the equation of the line passing through (9, – 4) and parallel to
2x + 3y = 6.

A)y = –2/3x + 2     B)y = 3/2x – 7     C)y = –3/2x + 1     D)y = 2/3x + 10     E)y = –2/3x + 7

4: Solve for x. |4x – 18| < 10

A)x < 7     B)-8 < x < 8     C)x < – 2     D)x > 28     E)2 < x < 7

5: Solve for x. log 5 + log x = 3

A)x = 10     B)x = 200    C)x = – 2     D) x = 500     E)x = 1

The correct answers are:
