Scholarship:

Dr. Medeiros worked as a practicing speech pathologist for over 6 years in Early Intervention and in the schools with children who had severe/profound disabilities.  This work informed her primary research interest in developing family-centered therapeutic practices for introducing aided AAC to families where a child’s verbal development was at-risk.

Dr. Medeiros is very interested in helping undergraduate students become exposed to and interested in research.  Her students have been invited to present their research projects both nationally at annual ASHA conferences and internationally at the bi-annual meeting of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication.  Current undergraduate students interested in Dr. Medeiros’ research are invited to drop by her office to talk.
