Intensive English Language Institute

  • ESL Tutoring

English as a second language (ESL) learners who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at Worcester State University are eligible for tutoring to help with skills listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary.

    Fall 2021 Tutoring Hours

ESL Tutoring will be available on Friday mornings from September 24 to December 10, 2021 and will take place in the Administration Building, 4th Floor, Division of Graduate and Continuing Education, between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

    Making Appointments, and Time Limits

Students can sign up for one 30-minute appointment per week. Appointments must be requested at least one day before the session takes place, and must be requested using a Worcester State University email address. Email Catherine Goodwin to schedule an appointment at cgoodwin2@worcester.edu, and include “Request for Tutoring” in the subject line of the email.

    How Can Tutors Help?

A tutor will help with any of the following skills either in a general context or with regard to specific assignments:

    • Speaking
    • Listening
    • Reading
    • Writing
    • Grammar
    • Vocabulary

As a result, help is extensive, although a tutor will not complete any assignments on behalf of students.

    Preparing for Tutoring

In order to prepare for a tutoring session, please make sure to have any assignment materials ready and available.
