Welcome to the Education Department!
In choosing to become an educator you have indeed selected a challenging career. You have chosen to undertake a profession in which you must demonstrate mastery of vast general knowledge as well as knowledge of how to teach. You have selected a profession which requires energy, commitment, and good judgment. As teachers are called upon to assume more and more responsibility and are held to higher standards of accountability, you will find that you must constantly use your knowledge and judgment to solve educational problems, to plan instruction, and to build curriculum. Moreover you will be held to the highest moral standards and continually be required to pursue professional development. We appreciate your interest in joining the education profession and accept the challenge of assisting you in your quest to become the best teacher possible. Worcester State University has been preparing educators for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1871. The current faculty of the Education Department is honored to carry this proud heritage forward.
