You can sign-up and pay for your sweatshirt in the Criminal Justice Department office (LRC 120). Payment can be either cash or check. If paying by check, please make the check payable to SATF and place ‘WSC CJ Club’ in the memo. The last day to purchase sweatshirts is March 1st, 2010. Half of all proceeds go to support the WSC Haiti Relief Effort

February 12 -- Nick Charette from MASSPIRG has led student canvassing efforts which have collected $202.  In addition, in conjunction with other students on the Haiti Relief Committee, Nick Charette is heading an effort to coordinate the canvassing of faculty across the college with the goal of raising at least $2000 from faculty donations.  Mike Grandy, MASSPIRG coordinator on campus, is providing training to student canvassers.

January 28 -- Worcester State College has set a goal of raising $10,000 for Haiti relief. The college has also established this website to communicate Haiti relief efforts to the college and greater community. The college will be collecting donations for a host of student and athletic events. In addition the Basketball team will donate proceeds from the February 6th game and will also donate proceeds from the game's 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will benefit the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and Partners in Health

January 25 -- Worcester State College students, faculty and staff have come together to respond to the tragedy in Haiti which is sensitive to the cycle of the disaster.

A number of members of the WSC community have family and loved ones in Haiti, and our college's outreach embraces them and the people of Haiti.

The first part of our response will be focused on providing monetary resources to designated charities, and will provide an opportunity for each member of the Worcester State College community to learn about the disaster and an opportunity to contribute to the relief efforts, at events that were already planned -- and at events specifically planned to focus on the Haiti Relief effort. Student groups including the Third World Alliance and the Student Events Committee (SEC) are planning to participate in these efforts, as is the Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement and the Student Center, as well as faculty from a number of departments including Sociology and Urban Studies. The college is expecting to shift our efforts as the needs on the ground shift to needs for other types of goods and supplies.

The Student Senate is donating $350 of their most recent fundraiser to Haiti relief. Other opportunities to donate will be at the following events (but not limited to):

SEC will be asking for donations at their events during the remainder of January and February.
