Areas of Specialization
I have also taught at Wellesley College, College of the Holy Cross, and Regis College. I have been at Worcester State College since 1962. I have always been influenced by the ideas of the English historian R.G. Collingwood: "The role of the historian is to research the past to clarify the present."
Scholarship
Scholarly honors include awards from Pi Gamma Mu, National Social Science Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Theta, National History Honor Society. I am active in such professional organizations as the American Historical Association, American Assn. for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, American Asian Association, New England Slavic Assn., and the New England Historical Association.
Former students I have taught are now active in teaching at all levels of public administration and politics, such as state representatives, the Mayor of Worcester, workers in the Higgins Museum, and members of the Foreign Service.
