The Worcester State University Honors Program offers outstanding and motivated WSU students academic and cultural enrichment throughout their college years. We are the oldest and one of the largest Honors Program among the nine Massachusetts state universities. Honors helps strong students become lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and campus leaders. The Honors community includes about 250 students, representing majors from across the university, and we are growing every year in numbers and course selections. Honors courses range from first-year offerings through upper-level electives, taught by professors who approach teaching with a focus on active student learning and independent thought. We provide enrichment events from speakers to trips, designated Honors campus spaces for collaboration and socializing, and mentoring through Honors Program advisors who help you on your path to discover who you are and how to achieve your dreams.

Some departments set their own standards for their majors to graduate with departmental honors – this is separate from the Honors Program and varies by department. Check with your advisor for details.

Faculty Leadership

The Honors Advisory Council is comprised of faculty members chosen in consultation with the Faculty Union; it includes past and current instructors of Honors courses. The committee meets monthly with the Honors Director and Assistant Director.

Student Leadership

The Honors Student Committee is a monthly student focus group about the Honors program, moderated by our Grad Assistant. Come provide feedback, plan events, and help improve your Honors program with your ideas and vision. See the "Calendar" tab for the next scheduled meeting.
