Gloria Labovitz
Intergenerational Outreach Coordinator

Gloria first became involved as an elder student and joined the team in 2007. Along with a variety of administrative duties, Gloria coordinates elder programming including outreach, elder registration, events, projects, and workshops.

She received a BS in Secondary Education from Boston University and taught junior and senior high school English for several years.  After being a “stay at home” mom to her two sons, Gloria went back to school and completed her MA in Counseling Psychology at Assumption College. She returned to the workforce for more than 23 years, first as Director of Human Resources and Training for several companies and then as Director of Member Services for the Westborough YMCA.

After less than nine months in retirement, she decided it was time to look for a new passion to provide meaning and purpose to her post-retirement years. She found she had an interest in aging, which led to her enrollment in classes at WSC leading toward a Certificate in Gerontology, and eventually led to her part time position at the IUI.

She is active in a number of organizations that advocate for older adults, and spends her leisure time among her love of books, music, nature, the ocean, the mountains, and her wonderful children and grandchildren.
