Support Statement to Students: June, 2010
Windows 7 Ultimate operating system is now available for student use, on the WSU campus. We cannot upgrade non-supported laptops (laptops not purchased through the WSU laptop initiative). If you wish to upgrade your laptop, the Win7 Ultimate (32 or 64 bit) operating system CD/DVD($20) is available at the IT Help Desk ($ must be in Common Funds on your WSU OneCard ID) this product is available if you wish to self-install.
If a problem arises with your supported (D600, D610, D620) Dell laptop computer which requires us
to reimage, we will do so using the existing XP Professional supported image. We do not support hardware issues on
non-supported laptops or CPUs.

Support Statement to Faculty and Staff: June, 2010 Windows 7 operating system has been thoroughly tested, is stable/supportable on current hardware and training documentation is available, we are currently rolling this out on new PCs/Laptops as well as existing PCs/Laptops meeting the specification requirements. All University owned laptops and key desktops are also set up with Encryption, as per policy. We cannot upgrade FacStaff personally owned laptops/PCs . If you wish to self-upgrade your personal laptop/PC, the Win7 Ultimate operating system CD/DVD is available at the IT Help Desk/Laptop Repair Depot for $20.00 ($ must be in Common Funds on your WSU OneCard ID) this product is available if you wish to self-install. This can not be utilized to upgrade campus-owned computers. MSOffice 2007 is standard on all Faculty/Staff computers across campus. Beginning Summer2011, all computer labs will be upgraded to MSOffice 2010. Microsoft 2010 will be available upon request after its release date Summer 2010 - the campus will migrate fully to this version at such time as we are satisfied that the software has been thoroughly tested, is stable/supportable on current hardware and training documentation is available. Good News!: The learning curve between MSOffice 2007 and MSOffice 2010 is not as dramatic as moving from 2003.
