Getting Started For Faculty/Staff
User Accounts - The process for account creation is as follows: New employee information is entered into our Colleague database by the Human Resources/Payroll departments. Within 24 hours, this information will be used to generate a user account that will be needed to access any of the Worcester State College systems including Blackboard, WSC Email, WebAdvisor and our campus computer network. New faculty and staff members should bring their WSC OneCard ID to the Information Technologies office, LRC-310 to obtain their network username and password. Copies can be obtained by going to https://Community.worcester.edu (password lookup) or by contacting the Information Technologies Helpdesk (x8856 or the Web Support Form). A printed copy can be mailed via the USPS to the employee’s home address (we can not provide this information over the phone or via email).
Username and Password – You will need a username and password to access any of the Worcester State College systems, including our College computer network, WSC eMail, Blackboard and WebAdvisor.
Worcester State College Community System - This new information system will enable users to access many campus resources, such as eMail, Web Advisor, and the Blackboard Learning Management System "LMS", by logging into a single interface. The Community System can be accessed from the WSC website home page or by entering the following URL into a browser: https://community.worcester.edu
Blackboard is Worcester State College’s online learning management system. Blackboard course shells are created for each course taught on campus and can be accessed after logging into the Worcester State College Community System (see URL above). Links to course shells appear under the My Courses module on either the Fac/Staff or Student Central tabs. is the email management system that is available to full-time faculty
and staff members. It provides an integrated system for managing e-mail
messages, appointments, tasks, notes, and contacts. Generally, it is setup
on an employee’s office computer. It also can be accessed from home if the
VPN client software is installed and an Outlook profile for the user is
created. Some manufacturers of handheld devices provide software that
allows users to synchronize their handhelds with Outlook (Information
entered into Outlook will be downloaded onto the handheld and information
entered into the handheld will be uploaded to Outlook).

Outlook Web Access is the internet version of the Worcester State College email management system. It actually is the web version of Outlook. All faculty and staff can use Outlook Web Access to obtain their Worcester State College eMail from any computer on the Internet. All eMail resides on the same server and can be accessed using Outlook Web Access. Faculty and staff members are provided with 250 megabytes of e-mail storage on our mail server. Handhelds cannot be synchronized with Outlook Web Access. Outlook Web Access can be accessed after logging into the Community System by entering the following address into your browser. is an application that allows users to look up course offerings, check
grades, and register for courses online. Online registration occurs during
specified time periods. Faculty can use WebAdvisor to obtain class
schedules, rosters, and information about their official advisees. Faculty
also can enter midterm and final grades via WebAdvisor. WebAdvisor can be
accessed from the FacStaff or Student Central tabs after logging into the Community

Network Data Storage
is provided to faculty and staff members in 2 locations.
Faculty and staff can store up to 500mb of data on their
network drive (i.e. Z:\)
This network drive (storage) is available when using a computer which is on the campus domain (or
virtually connected via
VPN). To locate your Z: drive space, right click on Start
then left click on Explore > from here scroll down until you see the Z:\
drive, then click on it to view contents. This storage is backed
An additional 500mb of web storage is provided through the
"My Webs" area of the Community System, this is accessible
from ANY internet connection (you do not have to be on campus to access this
data). This storage is backed up nightly.
