New! Credo Reference – Cross search almost 500 reference books from 65 well-known publishers, online with a single search. Easy to use search box and all results are clearly documented as to what book title is displaying results. Click a button and your search can be continued in our other reference databases such as the Gale Virtual Reference Library, Britannica and Oxford Reference. When you're ready to move to the next level you can continue your search in the WSU Library's Online Catalog; Academic Search (EBSCO) or Academic One File (Gale). Also has “concept map” interactive software to map out and focus your chosen research topic.
Britannica Online. Browse and search the complete encyclopedia plus hundreds of articles not in the print set. Also access to the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (10th edition), and thousands of links to other WWW sites evaluated and selected by Britannica editors.
Encyclopedia Americana - In addition to encyclopedia content, also contains a dictionary, thesaurus, atlas and more. Grolier Multimedia - derived from the Academic American Encyclopedia database, an 11-million-word repository of text and thousands of images maintained by the encyclopedia's editorial and technical staff. From one of the world's most respected reference publishers, the Premium collection brings together 200 well-known and trusted sources such as the complete Dictionaries series, Oxford Companion series plus the complete Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. Specialized subject sources in foreign languages, mythology, science, medicine, philosophy, and more.
Pop Culture Universe – A library of almost 400 online reference books from reputable publishers Greenwood Press and ABC-Clio. Search box, or by decade from the 1920’s through the 2000’s; also by broad historical periods all the way back to the Colonial Era. Users can also search by broad topic such as art and visual culture, fashion, advertising, ethnic culture, food, music, sports, TV, and other media. Academic Search Complete - [all EBSCO databases] largest academic, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 6,100 full-text periodicals, including more than 5,100 peer-reviewed journals.Covers many areas of study of interest to a college audience.
ProQuest Databases - databases that cover many subjects including computing, nursing & allied health, health management, education, criminal justice, biology and general sciences, psychology and general social sciences - lots of full text. Also outstanding newspaper coverage for 18 Massacusetts and 46 major U.S. city papers.
Public Affairs International World issues with coverage from 1972 to the present. An index to over 1/2 million articles, books, government documents, Internet sites and documents from more than 120 countries. Obviously useful for global issues such as affirmative action, AIDS, ethnicity, climate change, political persecution, women's rights, war and conflict, etc.
Issues and Controversies - From the reliable Facts on File resource.
