Worcester State University

General Information

General Library Resources

The Library has approximately 210,000 volumes and 10,000 VHS/DVD titles. We have access to 42,461 unique journal titles, full text in our subscription databases. We are a participating member of the Massachusetts Library System (MLS) which enables us to have access to several statewide database titles at no added cost to the institution. Additionally, we subscribe to, and have remote access to  130+ specialized databases - all available off campus for the convenience of WSU library users. The Library uses the Voyager product by ExLibris as its integrated library management system. We have recently (2011) added the AquaBrowser discovery software which makes searching the online catalog a much more visual experience.

Message from the Director

Welcome to your Library! The Library exists to help the students, faculty, and staff of Worcester State University find the information they need to function successfully as a learning community. We provide that information in all formats, from books to World Wide Web and Internet connections, from the daily newspaper to full text online databases. We even connect you to the catalogs and home pages of other libraries.
Thus, the Library is more than a building full of books. We are books, e-books, periodicals, Internet connections, non-print materials and a service oriented staff ready to help you. Whether you are looking for the latest National Geographic issue or have to do an  extensive  search for a graduate level project, we will treat your requests with respect, and will work with you until you have the right resources to get your work done.

Mission Statement

The Library is committed to providing strong support to the educational programs of Worcester State University, and to furnishing those services essential to the intellectual growth of the students, faculty, employees, and other members of the University community.
The Library's primary mission is to support the University's undergraduate curriculum and its graduate programs. As resources permit, the Library facilitates faculty research. Within the constraints imposed by these service priorities, the Library also serves the information needs of the greater community.
