I registered for Orientation what happens next?
How am I notified?
You will receive a confirmation of your reservation for
Orientation via email.
How early should we arrive to campus for Orientation?
If you will be staying overnight for Orientation, check in starts at 8 a.m.-10 a.m. in Wasylean Hall, Seven Hills Lounge. If you are commuting for Orientation, check in starts at 9 a.m. in the Sullivan Auditorium foyer. The program will begin promptly at 10 a.m.
Will there be placement exams during Orientation?
Placement exams are held May through June by the Academic Success Center. Please contact the Academic Success Center at 508-929-8111 to make an appointment.
Do I need to attend Orientation to get my classes for the fall semester?
Registration for fall classes happens immediately following your placement testing, before Orientation.
What if I have special dietary needs?
Contact the Orientation Office at 508-929-8615 or orientation@worcester.edu to let us know. We will work with Chartwells Food Service to make arrangements for your meals. There is also an area for special dietary needs on the Orientation registration form.
Do I need a computer at WSC? What type of computer do I need?
For information on laptop requirements check out the Information Technologies website at http://sharepoint.worcester.edu/external/it/guides/. The website also includes information on student email accounts and storage space.
Where can I park my car for Orientation? Where can I park for the semester?
Students attending Orientation are allowed to have their cars on campus. Orientation leaders will guide you when you arrive on campus to the appropriate places to park.
During the school year, freshmen residents are not allowed to have cars on campus. Commuters can pick up their parking pass at the One Card Office located in the Administration Building beginning August 17.
How do I get my student ID?
It is mandatory that all students have their picture taken at the College for their OneCard. Commuters can have their picture taken at the OneCard Office and will receive their OneCard the same day. Residents can only have their picture taken at the College Police Office and will receive their OneCard on New Student Move-In day. You can have your picture taken at the appropriate office at any point during the summer; please be aware that there may be limited time during Orientation to have this taken care of. Your student ID number is needed when you get your picture taken and you must be registered for classes for at least 24 hours before you can get your picture taken.
What banks/ATM’s are located on campus?
Sovereign Bank has an ATM kiosk in the Student Center and DCU has an ATM kiosk in the Wasylean Hall.
Will my roommate for Orientation be my roommate for the year?
No. We randomly assign students into rooms during Orientation. You will also not be in the same room you will be living in for the fall during Orientation.
Will my parents be with me in my orientation?
New Student Orientation is only for students. There are Parent Orientation programs in May and June.
What do I need to complete before fall?
Commuter parking passes and student ID’s are important to
have for the start of school. Health forms should also be
completed as well.
How do I get involved? How do I find out what’s going on around campus?
We have 35 active clubs on campus so there is something for everyone. In September there is a clubs/org fair where you can explore all the clubs, meet and greet current members and sign up. You can find the Student Center/Student Activities online through our website www.worcester.edu/studentactivities and/or our Facebook group. Keep your eyes open for the Lancer news, a weekly letter we post in the Student Center and our bi-weekly calendar that lists events that are happening on campus. We also have an online campus events calendar and “What’s Happening at Woo State?” weekly email of announcements.
What is Welcome Week?
A week of activities and events for all students on campus. This is your opportunity to get your semester off to a great start! You can meet new people and get involved right from the beginning. Look for signs and other information regarding welcome week.
When do I move in for the fall semester if I plan to live on campus?
Move in day for new students is Monday, August 31. Residence Life and Housing will be mailing home information over the summer regarding move in procedure, roommates and other helpful information.
