Emergency Information

The Emergency Response Guide for the University Community has been designed as a contingency plan for the Worcester State University community to follow during campus emergencies.  While the guide does not cover every conceivable emergency situation, it does supply the basic guidelines necessary to cope with most campus emergencies. It is essential for the Worcester State University community to be familiar with, and cooperate fully with the Worcester State University Emergency Response Guide and any instructions provided by emergency responders.

Campus emergency operations will be conducted within the framework of university procedures.  Any exception to these emergency management procedures will be conducted by, or with approval of, those university administrators directing and/or coordinating emergency operations.  A copy of this plan is available as a PDF by clicking here.

The goals of the Emergency Response Guide are:

  • To provide management plans and procedures that most effectively protect the health, safety, and welfare of students, faculty, staff, and the public, protect the environment, and mitigate potential damage in the event of an emergency.
  • To provide a coordinated response to emergencies which may impact students and/or the environment while paying special attention to the safety and security needs of members of the university community.
  • To provide for the essential needs of students and employees during and following an emergency.
  • To use critical emergency incidents, when appropriate, as teachable experiences to enhance the quality of life for all those impacted by the incident.
