WSU Emergency Notification System

Worcester State Emergency Notification System provides critical information regarding campus emergencies and closings to members of the Worcester State University Community. The University strongly encourages all faculty, staff and students to register in the Emergency Notification System.

How will I be notified during weather-related
University closings?

The @worcester.edu e-mail address for all students, faculty and staff is automatically imported into the emergency notification system. Each faculty and staff's WSU phone number has also been imported into the system. Your Worcester e-mail address remains as the primary/default address in the system.

UNIVERSITY HOMEPAGE - Notifications of weather-related University closings will be posted on Community System and the University homepage.

EMAIL TO YOUR @worcester.edu ADDRESS – Notification will also be sent to all WSU email addresses. This email will come from WSU Alert No-reply@getrave.com.

TEXT MESSAGE (OPTIONAL) - Users may opt to receive text notification on their cell phones by selecting the appropriate option in the Emergency Notification System user preferences screen. Normal text messaging charges may apply for users who select text notifications.

NO VOICE MESSAGE: Due to the regional volume of telephone calls associated with a weather event, weather-related University closings will NOT be communicated by voice messaging—the University cannot guarantee that a voice message will be received in a timely fashion in such situations.

About the Emergency Notification System

Emergency communications is a key challenge facing colleges and universities across the country. With thousands of people on campus every day combined with the geographic reality of numerous buildings, the delivery of emergency communications can prove challenging in the event of a crisis or disaster.

The Emergency Communication system will be able to rapidly and automatically communicate with the college community in the event of a crisis or disaster. Emergency personnel will no longer have to distribute vital messages individually through a broadcast e-mail, voice mail, cell phone call or through the posting of flyers. When an incident occurs, WSU will be able to relay critical information to landline phones, email, cell phones, and more — all at the same time.
