Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to define the terms and conditions under which background checks are conducted for employees who have potential access to PCI and/or other secured financial data.

Statement:
All prospective employees who have potential access to PCI and and/or other secured financial data shall complete an application that provides attestation of any criminal convictions; additionally, all prospective employees who have potential access to PCI and/or other secured financial data will be subject to pre-employment background checks.

This policy applies to

  • Prospective external employees applying for positions at Worcester State University
  • Current employees who transfer into a position that has potential access to PCI and/or other secured financial data.

Pre-employment background checks may include a review of a candidate’s references, criminal history, and credit history.
