Leadership Programs
One of the most important aspects of the Student Activities Office is
involvement. Student activities is an important part of the college experience
for students. Not only does this part of our office provide programming for all
students on campus from clubs and organizations, but we also play a definitive
role in the leadership development of all students involved in clubs and
organizations. Our office provides comprehensive leadership training
throughout the year with the following programs:
Student Leader Welcome Back Dinner
This dinner is held each September and we welcome every student leader back to
campus. A keynote speaker presents on various topics such as goal setting or
motivation to get everyone ready for the new year. Our office also updates the
leaders on any new information, events, and leadership trainings that may be
happening during the year.
Student Leader Retreat
Held each January at an off campus location, student leaders can get away from
campus and learn more about themselves as a leader while meeting and bonding
with many student leaders from other student organizations. This two night
retreat is a great way to get the spring semester started.
Helping Emerging Leaders Progress (HELP)
This emerging leaders program is held for eight weeks in the Spring Semester. It
is primarily geared toward freshman and sophomore students who are interested in
becoming student leaders in clubs and organizations on campus. Broad topics such
as Diversity and Teambuilding are presented.
Art of Leadership
This
experienced leaders program is held once a month for the entire year. It is
primarily geared toward juniors and seniors. Advanced leadership topics are
discussed such as ethics, leadership styles, and gender and leadership. Second
semester sessions focus more on preparing student leaders for a career and
includes topics such as networking, resume critiquing, and interviewing skills.
Leadership Dinner Series
This topical series is held monthly and includes dinner for all who attended.
Topics such as fundraising, how to plan a trip, and budget development are just
some of the areas covered in the series.
"Leadership to Go" Series
This
series is designed to aid student leaders, specifically executive officers, with
managing their organizations by teaching them valuable leadership skills in
various topics such as, recruitment and retention, budgeting and contracts,
programming planning. Student organizations can contact us to speak to their
