Theatre
The theatre discipline offers coursework in theatre history, acting, directing,
theatre for young audiences, design, technology and other areas. The focus is on
theatre production; plays are mounted each semester, and afford students
practical training and experience. Interdisciplinary courses and shows
(such as musicals) are offered in collaboration with professors and students in
Music and Art. All theatre courses fulfill current Fine Arts Distribution
requirements.
Fuller Theater: In November 2009, the historic playhouse/lecture hall
in the Administration Building was transformed into a state-of-the-art
educational theater. The Fuller Foundation provided a $500,000 grant for new
amenities such as catwalks, new sound system, assistive listening devices,
winches above the stage, box seating, a control booth, light board, design
studio, scene shop, costume shop, a small green room, and smart classroom
technology.
