    Fall Preparation Live Chats

    To aid in your student’s transition to Worcester State University, the Orientation Office invites you to participate in the second portion of our virtual Parent Orientation program. Through interactive live chats, your family will have the opportunity to learn how to best support your student during their transition to college.

    In response to COVID-19 precautions being implemented by the University, we are pleased to share with you our virtual Parent Orientation program. Below, you will find a selection of videos reflecting the topics that are discussed during our traditional Parent Orientation program. We encourage you to watch each video in order to best prepare yourself to help your student as they begin their Worcester State University experience.

    Academic Overview & FERPA Information

    Join Ryan Forsythe, Vice President of Enrollment Management, as he discusses academics and FERPA for parents and family members of new Worcester State University students. The Academic Overview portion of this presentation discusses registration for fall semester classes, placement testing, and academic requirements for students to maintain satisfactory academic progress. The FERPA overview details the background of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

    College Transitions & Counseling Services

    Join Laura Murphy, Associate Dean of Wellness and Director of the Counseling Center, as she discusses the transition to college and students counseling services for parents and family members of new Worcester State University students. The College Transitions and Counseling Services overview discusses strategies in helping your student adjust to life at college, the structure of the WSU Counseling Center, and the free resources and services that are provided to all students.
