Moon-Lily Silk Mobiles
Moon-Lily Silk Mobiles are handcrafted from lightly starched silk and fine-gauge stainless steel wire. Exceptionally lightweight and reactive to the slightest disturbance in the air, this mobile has sweeping “branches” and stylized tree leaves. Many of the silk colors are hand dyed, and subtle variations distinguish each mobile as handmade. This mobile is artfully packaged in a gift box and ready to suspend with enclosed nylon thread. Suited for interior use only, the approximate dimensions are 50” diameter and 20” vertical depth.
The HeartBoxes of Kathleen DeQuence Anderson
As a dedicated crafter since the age of four, Kathleen DeQuence Anderson understands the various complexities of working with materials from fiber to clay. Anderson has been making her inspired and finely crafted HeartBoxes since her beloved Aunt Margaret passed in 2008. The boxes were originally designed as a way for Anderson and her family to communicate final messages to Aunt Margaret. Made from polymer clay – a scupltable, dye-able material based in plastic- HeartBoxes are individually dyed, pressed, and sculpted into expressive and imaginative pieces. With notable traces of Pueblo, Navajo, Chinese, and African Art, each piece is stunningly intricate. As Anderson puts it, HeartBoxes were “originally designed to hold heartfelt, inspirational messages.” HeartBoxes make an ideal hiding place for small treasures, notes, and other charms held dear to the heart. Anderson is currently a member of the Western Massachusetts Polymer Clay Guild as well as Black Art in America. She also teaches a polymer clay beginners workshop through Greenfield Community College. Her original HeartBoxes and intricately decorated polymer clay brooches are available in the Gallery Store.
