After transfer criteria:
Admission decisions are made after all prior college transcripts and other required documents are received. A combined grade point average will be calculated for those applicants who have attended more than one college. Accepted students will receive a letter of acceptance with a preliminary transfer credit summary listing the courses that will be transferred to Worcester State College. This is a preliminary review of credits, and the placement of courses within the intended major may change upon department chair review.
All transfer students must complete at least 30 of the last 40 credits and earn the majority of credits in both the major and minor(if elected) at Worcester State College.
Checklist for transfer applicants:
· Application form and fee of $40.00
· Official transcripts: A final, official transcript sent directly from the high school to the college, and official college transcripts sent directly from all colleges previously attended.
· Students with less than 24 transferable credits: must submit Scholastic Assessment Test Reports if you graduated from high school within the last three years. The College Board Code for Worcester State College is 3524.
· A final college transcript: If your are enrolled in coursework to be completed after acceptance, a final, official transcript must be sent to WSC.
Applicants who fail to declare any prior college experience during the admission process will be considered to have misrepresented their academic history and will be subject to their acceptance being rescinded.
JOINT ADMISIONS PROGRAM
The Massachusetts state colleges and community colleges participate in the Joint Admissions Program. Students enrolled at the community colleges in an approved program may qualify for Joint Admissions. Students who are eligible for the program should fill out the Intent to Enroll Form instead of the admission application the semester prior to your planned enrollment date. This form is available from the transfer officer at the community college. Applicants must submit the official high school transcript and official transcripts from all colleges previously attended.
To satisfy the terms of the Joint Admissions Program, participating students must earn an associate’s degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 in a designated Joint Admissions program, and transfer directly to Worcester State College.
Please be advised that not all majors are available under the Joint Admissions Program.
TUITION ADVANTAGE PROGRAM
Students who are in the Joint Admissions Program are eligible to receive a tuition-reduction (one-third off the annual in-state tuition) if their cumulative grade point average for the associate’s degree is at least a 3.0. The final, official community college transcript, including graduation information must be received before the TAP benefit can be granted. The TAP benefit will be continued for up to four semesters as long as eligible students maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher at Worcester State College.
