Appointment of Search Committee

 

Upon posting/placement of an advertisement for a vacant position, the Chair/Director, with the approval of the area Vice President or Dean, will appoint a search committee.

 

Application Process

 

All applications for posted/advertised positions must be received by the Human Resources Department, which will acknowledge receipt of applications and provide applicants with a voluntary Affirmative Action Data Form and an Employment Application Form.  Please note that in order to apply for a Faculty position, the applicant must possess a terminal degree in the appropriate discipline.

 

The Human Resources Department accumulates all applicant files and documents and prepares a roster of all applicants on an Applicant Rating Sheet.  All applicant files and Applicant Rating Sheets are provided to the committee chair, who is responsible for calling the first meeting of the search committee.

 

Screening Process

 

The search committee will conduct a screening of applicants, reducing the applicant pool to no more than 10 semi-final candidates.  Once the semi-final pool is chosen, the search committee chair will so notify the Director of Human Resources.

 

At this time, a list of all candidates selected for interviews is forwarded to the Affirmative Action Officer.   S/he will make additional recommendations when appropriate.

 

Interview Process

 

The search committee establishes an interview schedule, to include a tour of campus and meetings with other pertinent groups.  The Human Resources Department is responsible for making all arrangements for candidate travel, lodging and transportation.  Please note that depending on the geographic spread of the semi-final candidates, the Director of Human Resources may request that telephone interviews be scheduled before on campus interviews are held.

 

With the selection of a pool of no more than 10 semi-final candidates, the Human Resources Department will directly contact all semi-final candidates to confirm their continued interest in the position and to invite them for an on campus interview.  Candidates who accept the interview will now receive a letter confirming the date and time of their interview along with a map of the campus (if needed) and a benefits pamphlet.
