Worcester State University students enjoy a broad range of meaningful opportunities for hands-on learning. Our excellent science labs, numerous field work projects, and collaborative partnerships with leading institutions enable students to strengthen their foundation in the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences.
Under the guidance of our exceptionally talented and dedicated faculty—many of whom have acquired national recognition in their field—undergraduate and graduate students engage in research projects that range from studying novel pharmacological therapeutics for melanoma cancers to exploring the feasibility of creating an urban arts district in Worcester’s brownfields.
In addition to working closely with their students, many of our faculty are engaged in individual and collaborative research projects. Funders for faculty research have included the National Science Foundation, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
Worcester State University supports student and faculty research through its Faculty Mini-Grant Program. The Worcester State Foundation operates the Student Research Grant Fund to support undergraduate student research, scholarship and creative activity. The University recognizes the important work of its faculty and students through its annual Celebration of Scholarship and Creativity.
