AFTER-HOURS SERVICES

Policy

Worcester State University Police and other University officials (e.g.Vice President of Student Affairs, Dean of Students, etc.) maintain the private telephone numbers of Counseling Center clinicians and may contact clinicians outside the regular business hours to secure emergency consultation and counseling services as needed.  Levels of response necessary for addressing particular situations warranting after-hours services vary greatly.

Procedure

- If after-hours services are needed, the Director of Counseling Center will be the first clinician attempted.

-In most cases, Counseling Center staff will be notified after a student has already been referred directly to a hospital emergency room for immediate care.

-In all situations where there is University involvement with a mental health crisis, the Counseling Center will be provided with information related to the nature of the situation for consideration of possible follow-up with the involved student(s).
