A. WSU-Student Health Services is notified by a student, Primary Care Provider or Department of Public Health, of a communicable disease that could be infectious to other students, including but not limited to:
Chicken Pox(Varicella)
German measles(Rubella)
Measles
Meningitis
Mumps
Pertussis(Whooping Cough)
SARS
Smallpox
Tuberculosis
B. SHS will notify ill student and appropriate contacts of ill student (contacts determined by Department of Public Health Guidelines) of exclusion from classes, and length of time of exclusion. Length of exclusion will be determined through discussion with Department of Public Health and based on Massachusetts Law 105 CMR 300.000.
C. Length of exclusion will be documented for professors, as requested by student.
D. In the event of an anticipated absence of one week or longer, Student Health Services will notify the Academic Affairs office, at the request of the student. If written documentation is required to complete the process, SHS may provide that to the student, at the student’s request.
E. An ill student can return to class with written medical documentation, documenting that the student’s illness is no longer communicable to other individuals, and return will be in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health quarantine/isolation recommendations.
F. The pre-entrance medical requirements at Worcester State University is based on the Massachusetts Laws 105CMR 220.00, 220.400, 220.600 and 220.700.
G. WSU resident students will not be allowed to move into the Residence Hall, until a completed Health Examination Form is on file in Student Health Services.
H. WSU commuter students will not be allowed to register for classes, until a completed Health Examination Form is on file in Student Health Services.
