MEDICAL ABSENCE DUE TO ILLNESS |
Policy
Student Health Services can provide students with a written statement, validating when the student had been seen in Student Health Services. Student Health Services cannot excuse a student from a class, this decision rests with the professor of the class. It is the responsibility of the student to discuss their individual situation with their professor.

Procedure
A. A student’s first contact regarding whether or not they have been excused from class, and what work was missed, is the professor.
B. Student Health Services can provide written documentation validating a student’s visit to Student Health Services (SHS)for illness. Merely calling SHS or visiting SHS, does not mean a student will be excused from class.
C. There are certain illnesses for which a student will be excluded from class (see Medical Exclusion Policy).
D. In the event of an anticipated absence of one week or longer, Student Health Services will notify the Academic Affairs office, at the request of the student. If written documentation is required to complete this process, SHS may provide that to the student, at their request.
