Off-Campus Vendor Access to On-Campus Servers or Applications

Purpose:

Support of applications on campus may require off-campus vendor remote access.  This access will be made available with prior area-manager consent through the use of authentication with temporary accounts (scheduled password expirations and timeouts), with VPN using remote desktop. [see also System Passwords]

 

 

 

Statement:

Need based, authorized access to systems/servers will be available to vendors remotely needing access for troubleshooting and maintenance.  Vendors will be required to adhere to current Network Acceptable Use policies.

 

 

 

Description:

  • Consent for requested remote access will be provided by IT area-manager. 
  • Any work requiring user impact - (i.e. system down, temp outage, significant change in application) will require a Change Management request be completed. Any work will require manager approval and evaluation by interested parties to determine need and timing.
  • All changes regardless of impact significance will be documented in the appropriate project site.
  • WSC Information Technologies will ensure that remotely managed on-campus servers are on regular backup schedules and secure with updates, patches and antivirus.
