Purpose:
To define how usernames and passwords are provided to students.
Statement:
User passwords are not distributed by telephone as per FERPA guidelines and information security best practices. Usernames and passwords are distributed only through the processes outlined below.
Description:
- All usernames and passwords are generated automatically by Colleague. A student must be entered into Colleague in order for a username and password to be generated.
- It can take up to twenty-four hours for a username and password to be generated.
- Students are mailed a document that contains their usernames and passwords one working day after they have been entered into Colleague.
- Students also may obtain their original usernames and passwords, or reset their passwords, by visiting the College's website.
Additional Information:
Username and password lists will not be generated for any department or agency, Worcester State College or otherwise, effective July 6, 2006.
