  • Laptop Purchase Program

    Worcester State University requires all full-time undergraduate students to have laptop computers. Through the Laptop Purchase Program, you can take advantage of special pricing on hardware from Apple and Dell that we have vetted for durability, reliability, and supportability. When you purchase a laptop through this program, we provide on-campus support free of charge and a complete-care warranty for the length of the manufacturer’s warranty.

    The WSU recommended models meet stringent requirements for:

    • Durability: It is important that your laptops are resilient to everyday wear and tear, including the casing and internal housing for each part. Retail models typically are not designed with this specific detail in mind.
    • Supportability: WSU is an authorized on-site service provider for the units purchased through the Dell or Apple customer portals. The Laptop Repair Depot provides service for supported units at no charge, regardless of the problem for the length of the manufacturer’s warranty.     • Price: Each year, WSU aggressively negotiates the best price possible for a high-quality laptop. While you will find less expensive laptops in retail stores, they may not meet our recommendations for durability and value. And retail laptops do not qualify for WSU’s Laptop Purchase Program service agreement.
    • Sustainability: Just as price is important, so is the assurance that they laptop you buy will last—whether through 4 years as an undergraduate student at WSU or beyond to graduate school. We are confident that the units available through the Laptop Purchase Program meet or exceed these objectives.

    Windows or Macintosh?
    Unsure whether to choose Windows or Mac? Consider your program of study before purchasing your laptop. Keep in mind your academic program may have specific software requirements that won't run on a specific OS.     Financial Assistance
    Generally, the cost of a laptop is factored into financial aid awards for first-year students. Contact Financial Aid for additional information.
