In Fall 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Worcester State's Visual and Performing Arts Department presented a virtual presentation of "Oedipus, the King" by Sophocles.
Worcester State Theatre, a part of WSU’s Visual and Performing Arts Department, raises the standard for student production and for audience understanding of the theatre as it brings to the stage, for public and campus audiences, the playwrights that intrigue, deliver a message, and make us think so that we leave knowing why theatre is still relevant on today’s stage.

VPA Theatre students Karen Shalev, Ryann Jerome and Michale Friedrich present this 10-minute reading online during the Spring 2020 semester as part of their Acting 2 class with Professor Rachel Wiese. In the dark comedy, parents hoping for their son to gain acceptance into a competitive preschool watch him audition via a play date through a window. Things take an unexpected turn.
