Welcome to campus, Lancers! The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development<\/a> (OSILD) is so happy to welcome you back to campus!\u00a0 We have been working hard all summer to provide quality programming and leadership experiences that will enhance your experience here at WSU. Our main goal is to develop out-of-classroom experiences that will provide important social connections, along with gaining valuable experiences and skills in co-curricular activities. This ensures that you will be prepared to enter the workforce as a well-rounded individual. The following opportunities are available through our office.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Student Organizations
\n<\/strong>OSILD works with over 40 student organizations<\/a> on campus that provide programming as well as leadership positions for students. There are many to choose from depending on your interests. If you are interested in cultural groups, you could check out the Black Student Union<\/a>, Asian Cultural Boba Club<\/a>, and the Intercultural Student Alliance<\/a>, just to name a few. Campus activism and community service is also of interest to many students and they can join Student Senate<\/a>, Christian Fellowship<\/a>, and Woo Serve<\/a>. Specific hobbies and major-specific groups include Fiber Arts Club<\/a>, Criminal Justice Club, and the Political Science Club<\/a>. <\/span>To learn about the clubs that we offer,\u00a0 stop by our annual Club Kickoff event with representatives from each organization. The event will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, from 11am to 2pm on the Binienda Green. This is a great way to meet students from all organizations and explore what they have to offer. If you don\u2019t find something of interest, you can start your own organization. Just ask us how!<\/span><\/p>\n

Campus Programming
\n<\/strong>Our office provides social programming for all students to foster a sense of community and allows students to make connections with their peers while enjoying some exciting activities.\u00a0 Hosted by OSILD and student organizations, the year kicks off with our annual Welcome Week celebration. Events this year include the Club Kick Off, Quad Fest, an outdoor movie night showing of Wicked<\/em>, a shuttle to the Shops at Blackstone Valley<\/a>, and many more.\u00a0 Also, we hold monthly programs for weekend events as well as daytime commuter events.\u00a0 OSILD and the student organizations provide up to 350 events a year that are open to all students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leadership Opportunities
\n<\/strong>OSILD provides many ways for students to work on their leadership skills while here at WSU.\u00a0 Our Circles of Leadership program<\/a> offers students the opportunity to learn about leadership-specific topics such as ethics in leadership, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and networking. Our leadership website includes information on all of our available programs.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
