Worcester State University’s Intensive English Language Institute wants to help immigrants in the Worcester area enhance their English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. That is why Worcester State University’s Community ESL Program offers classes that address a range of skills or focus on specific skills.
Whether you arrived in the Worcester area recently or have lived in the United States for a few years, you can take classes to advance at work, prepare for college entry, or to better understand people around you.

The Community ESL Program has 3 equal semesters in the fall, spring, and summer. Classes are 12 weeks long and provide 48 classroom hours of instruction (60 for TOEFL iBT).

The Integrated Skills class has 4 levels of instruction. Conversation and Pronunciation, TOEFL iBT Preparation, English for Business, and Grammar through Writing are all one level—intermediate to advanced.

If you complete the semester to the satisfaction of your instructor, you will receive a certificate.

Yes. J-visa requirements for au pairs state that you must have 6 semester hours or an equivalent in an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution. Every 12 hours you spend in a classroom is equivalent to 1 college credit. Two semesters of Community ESL Program classes completely fulfills most au pair education requirements.
