Begin your application & registration for the Intensive ESL program today!

We welcome your interest in applying to the Intensive English Language Institute’s Intensive ESL Program at Worcester State University. To be considered, you must:

  • be at least 16 years old (some exceptions made with the director’s approval)
  • be a high school graduate (some exceptions made with the director’s approval)
  • be able to prove that you have or your sponsor has the funds to pay for your tuition, fees, and living arrangements while you are studying in the IELI program

 

How to Apply for Student Visa (F1) Applicants

Complete the application form.

You can also request an application by contacting the Intensive English Language Institute at ieli@worcester.edu. Please Note: the application form is different from the registration form. Registration forms are completed after your arrival.

Complete your Affidavit of Financial Support Form.*

Please have two sets of originals of your Affidavit of Financial Support Form as well as bank statements. One set goes with your application to Worcester State University. The other set of documents you keep and take with you to your appointment with the U.S. Consulate for your visa.

Provide your educational credentials.

Please bring a copy of your transcript from your highest level of education. They should be submitted with an English translation.

Pay the application fee.

Worcester State University requires a non-refundable application and tuition deposit of $150 USD. If you are accepted into IELI, $100 USD of your fee will be applied toward your tuition payment. Payments can be made by check, money order, traveler's check (payable to Worcester State University), or credit card (MasterCard, VISA, American Express, or Discover).

Provide a copy of the photo page of your passport.

Please include a clear copy of your biographical page of your passport. We use this to ensure that the information on your I-20 perfectly matches your passport information.

Complete the Worcester State University Health and Immunization Form in your country.

Please have your doctor complete and sign this form. It is due immediately upon your arrival. It will not be accepted without a doctor's signature.
TRANSFER APPLICANTS ONLY

Send a copy of your I-20 with your application and other required documents.

Submit all completed documents.

Mail all of your documents to: Intensive English Language Institute Worcester State University 486 Chandler Street Worcester, MA, 01602-2597 USA Or scan and email your documents to ieli@worcester.edu. No photos of forms will be accepted.

*How to Complete Your Affidavit of Financial Aid Support Form

Complete your Affidavit of Financial Aid Support Form by requesting specific individuals/organizations to fill out different parts of the form. The parts and their assigned individuals/organizations are listed below.

  • Part I and II: Completed by you or your sponsor (Part II: Check box for IELI)
  • Part III: Completed by your sponsor (or you if you are paying for yourself)
  • Part IV: Completed by your sponsor’s bank or financial institution with the institution’s official seal or stamp. A letter from the bank indicating availability of the necessary funds is also sufficient.

After You Apply for Student Visa (F1) Applicants

Enter the review process for your application.

When your documents and application fee are received, they will be reviewed to make sure all necessary information and supporting documents are included. If your information is incomplete, your application will be put on hold and you will be notified of the missing information. If your application is complete, you will be accepted into the program within 48 hours. Your documents will be sent to the Worcester State University International Programs Office.

Receive your acceptance letter.

Currently, when your application is approved and the International Programs Office sends us your I-20 document, it will be forwarded to you by email. This document will be password protected and will also include your acceptance letter and information on how to get your appointment with the U.S. Consulate.

Report to Worcester State's International Programs Office.

You will need to report to both Worcester State University’s International Programs Office (Student Center, Office 320) and IELI within 30 days of your arrival in the United States. Not reporting to your school after your arrival can result in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement canceling your visa status. Be prepared to present your passport, I-20, proof of health insurance, Worcester State University Medical Form, and the balance of your tuition upon arrival. Click on "Report to Worcester State's International Programs Office" for more information.

How to Register for Non-F1 Visa Students & Returning Students

If you are a returning IELI student or a prospective non-F1 visa student and want to sign up for our Intensive ESL classes, you can register for classes held 1 to 5 days per week.

Complete the Intensive ESL Program registration form.

Note: the Intensive ESL Program registration form differs from the Community ESL Class registration form.

Pay the application fee.

There are several ways for submitting your registration form and application fee: 1. Scan and email it to smedinavazquez@worcester.edu. 2. Mail it to Sandra Medina-Vázquez at Worcester State University, 486 Chandler Street Worcester, MA 01602. 3. Fax it to 508-929-8100. 4. Come into our office in the Shaughnessy Administration Building, 4th floor, on the Worcester State campus.
