Required Fees for the Intensive ESL Program

Application fee and tuition deposit required: $150 (non-refundable; $100 will be applied to tuition)

Tuition: Full-Time Intensive ESL Program (20 hours per week)

  • Fall and spring semesters (14 weeks): $3,550
  • Summer session (10 weeks): $2,775

International Student Fee: This fee is due upon arrival along with full tuition.  It is charged each semester the student is active.

Student Health Services Fee: This fee is charged in Spring and Fall semesters only and pays for use of the on campus health clinic.  Once a students pays this fee, any use of the clinic is free for that semester.  This fee is not due until the student arrives.

Tuition: Part-Time Intensive ESL Classes

  • Fall and spring semesters (14 weeks): $775 per topic (Note: Reading/Writing is 2 days and costs $1,550)
  • Summer session (10 weeks): $700 per topic (Note: Reading/Writing is 2 days and costs $1,400)

Part time students do not pay the International Student Fee or Student Health Services fee.

Payment & Placement Testing Dates

Download the Intensive Intensive ESL Program Calendar – 2022-2023 for payment and placement testing dates for upcoming semesters.

  • If you pay your tuition in full by the early payment date (see link to calendar above), you save $100 for the full-time program or $25 for individual classes
  • If you take a placement test on a date other than what is on our calendar, you will be charged a $100 fee
  • If you pay your tuition after the placement test date, a late fee of $100 will be charged for the full-time program or $25 for individual classes

Payments

Tuition is due in full upon the student’s registration into classes and can be paid by credit or debit card, check, money order, or using peerTransfer.

Other Costs for Attendance
Books
On average, books cost between $200 and $300 per semester.
Medical Insurance
The cost of medical insurance varies based on the amount of coverage you choose. On average medical insurance costs $750 per year. IELI full-time students can purchase Worcester State University Student Health Insurance.

Worcester State Health Services
There is a $155 fee for use of Worcester State's Health Services that all full time student visa holders (F1) pay each fall and spring semester. You will pay this fee when you pay your tuition in the IELI office.

Housing & Food
Housing in the Worcester area generally costs approximately $1,000 monthly for an apartment rental. In addition, you will need to spend about $300 per month for food. Many students choose to stay with family or friends in the Worcester area. Limited dormitory space is available upon request.
