Welcome Fall 2023

September 4, 2023

Welcome back to campus, Lancers! As we start school this year, the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development (OSILD) has been busy working with student organizations to plan some exciting events for this year. Our office works with over 40 student organizations to plan over 200 events per year for WSU students. Our mission is to provide a vibrant campus experience with fun and interactive events, trips, theme weeks, and leadership opportunities for all students to enjoy.

Connecting with your peers is a key component to success at WSU. In addition to establishing relationships within the classroom, making connections through club involvement, athletics, intramurals, community service, or leadership training opportunities are important ways for you to make friends throughout your time here. OSILD would like to encourage you all to challenge yourselves to step out of your comfort zone and experience as many different opportunities as you can. Connecting to others at WSU is so important for many reasons including positive mental health, networking, and having fun. OSILD is there to assist students in making those connections across campus, especially outside of the classroom. We offer many opportunities for students to meet one another and make some lasting connections on campus and beyond graduation through participation in student organizations and leadership programs.

Our most important series of events to kick off the new year and help you connect to other students is Welcome Week. This year, Welcome Week will run from Wednesday, September 6th to Friday, September 15th and is jam packed with events including socials, Quadfest, bingo and many other activities. The most anticipated event each Welcome Week is Club Kick-Off on Wednesday, September 13th from 11am to 2pm outside of the Student Center. This event features tables from all student organizations and gives students the opportunity to explore the many options of involvement that we currently offer. If a student is interested in starting up a group, the process is easy to start an organization and we are happy to walk anyone through the steps!

Please check out our complete list of student organizations on our website and keep an eye out on our social media for an updated list of events for Welcome Week. Also, for a complete list of our leadership offerings, please visit our leadership programs page. For the most up to date information on events, keep an eye on your email for weekly notifications and follow us on Instagram @wsu_osild. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email us at studentinvolvement@worcester.edu and we would be happy to talk with you about all of the opportunities offered through our office.

Best of luck to all students this year and we look forward to meeting you all soon!
