Areas of Expertise

Bio

My current area of research is the non-directed C-H activation of arenes using Cp*Ir and Cp*Rh catalysts and air as an oxidant. We have established active systems for the selective formation of C-O and C-N bonds on alkyl arenes at the benzylic position. Other current areas of interest include green chemistry education research to provide curriculum for organic labs and the development of an online course in green chemistry and sustainability for non-science majors. I am also currently working with colleagues at Satit Chula, a K-12 demonstration school part of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand to promote green chemistry education and to foster teacher and student exchanges. This is part of an ongoing program developed in 2007 as a Fulbright Senior Scholar to Thailand.
