    About Health Services

    Our staff includes licensed nurse practitioners and physicians, which enables us to evaluate you on campus for any illness or health concern with minimal disruption to your studies.

    Health Services at Worcester State University is your source for high-quality, cost-effective health care. We provide accessible, convenient, and affordable services—we don’t bill you or charge any co-pays. Our services include:

    • Unlimited visits for evaluation and treatment of health concerns and illnesses
    • Health maintenance and wellness information
    • Women’s health, including routine gynecologic exams with Pap testing, and contraception
    • Screening for sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy issues
    • Tuberculosis screening in select situations
    • Physical exams in select situations

    Education

    Health Services educates students to promote health and wellness. Our programs include:

    • Substance abuse prevention and education
    • Healthy sexuality education
    • Stress management
    • Healthy eating
    • Physical fitness
    • Personal safety
    • Keeping personal health records
    • Accessing the health-care system
    • Understanding health-care insurance coverage

    We offer practicums and internships for Worcester State nursing students and UMass Medical School-Graduate School nursing and nurse practitioner students.

    COVID-19 Safety for Health Services

    All students must call prior to entering Health Services, no routine walk-ins will be accepted. If a student has an emergency, they should contact University Police, and, if it is related to COVID-19, the student should make University Police aware of this when they call.

    All students should report any symptoms related to COVID to Health Services by telephone, and also contact our office, if the student has been confirmed positive for COVID-19 or has been told that they are a close contact of an individual with confirmed COVID-19.

    Flu Vaccine

    The Massachusetts Department of Health and Worcester State University continue to strongly recommend that everyone receive their seasonal flu vaccine each year. The flu vaccine is available by contacting your Primary Care Provider or visiting any urgent care center/pharmacy that administers immunizations.     Recommended Medical Supplies

    All students should have a copy of their health insurance card with them on campus. It is suggested to have the following items if living in the Residence Halls:

    • Thermometer
    • Band-Aids
    • Gauze
    • Medical Tape
    • Bacitracin ointment
    • Burn gel
    • Hydrocortisone cream
    • Hydrogen peroxide
    • Hot/Cold pack
    • Sunscreen
    • Dry skin lotion
    • Tylenol
    • Benadryl
    • Expectorant
    • Cough drops
    • Carnation Instant Breakfast
    • Can or instant chicken soup

    Deadlines

    • Resident students must submit health forms by August 2, 2021. Students will not be allowed to move into the Residence Halls if there are outstanding requirements.
    • Commuter students must submit health forms by September 1, 2021.
  • Mental Health Screenings

    Concerned about how you are feeling? On the Counseling Services page in myWSU you can take an online, free and anonymous mental health screening to see if counseling may be right for you.

    Appointments

    Appointments are scheduled based on counselor availability. You can schedule an appointment by calling Counseling Services, visiting in person, or via email. Evening hours are available by appointment.
