Why should students get involved with your organization?
Students should get involved with the CJ club if they are interested in anything related to criminal justice. We want to introduce students to the fields within criminal justice and do so by bringing in many guest speakers and other events. Many people think criminal justice just involves law enforcement, but it is so much more. We help introduce students to many job opportunities, internship opportunities, and general knowledge of these numerous fields.

What types of events and/or programs do you do throughout the year?
We mostly host guest speakers, about 4 per semester. We also host a career fair in the fall and a field trip in the spring. Last year, we went to the Worcester County Jail and this year we will be going to a police academy.

What has been one of the biggest successes of this organization?
Our biggest success was getting our club active again. During Covid, the club was not active and in the last two years it has been slowly dying. This year has been a great year though, with having many new members join our club and our career fair being the biggest one yet. We had over 30 agencies host a table to tell students all about job and internship opportunities.

What do you think your organization brings to the students at Worcester State?
We help introduce students to all the fields within criminal justice. By bringing in speakers from the field, we introduce students to professionals in fields they potentially want to work in, giving them a connection that can help them in the future.

How can interested students join your organization?
Students can join our organization by attending club meetings. They just need to attend two in a semester to be considered a part of the club.

How can the campus community learn more about your programs and events?
Our Instagram is very active. We post about any guest speakers we are having and all our events. They can dm us or email us about any event coming up as well. We also put up flyers on the bulletin boards about any upcoming events we are hosting.
