The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development (OSILD) hosted its fifth annual campus Leadership Symposium. This multi-day leadership experience featured a variety of workshops and concluded with keynote speaker Amma Marfo.

This year’s program featured five workshops for students to choose from:

  • Empathy not Sympathy: Centering Volunteerism in “Beneficiaries”
  • The Ethics of Leadership
  • The Peer Mentoring Role
  • Skills for Engaged Leadership: Critical Reflection 101
  • Understanding & Managing Conflict

Many workshops connected their topics to the importance of service work in both the campus and the greater community. Attendees were able to learn the necessary skills to become change-makers and help keep their communities moving forward.

Keynote speaker Amma Marfo concluded the event with her workshop “Empowering Student Activists.” Students were asked to consider their values and the impact that those values have on not only their day-to-day experiences but on the work that they do. This is the second time Marfo has provided a keynote experience for the Leadership Symposium.
