Athena has been a speech language pathologist (SLP) for over 25 years and has made tremendous impact on the lives of patients in adult neurological rehab. She has worked in a number of rehabilitative settings including acute care hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and home health care. Athena received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville, and her master’s degree from the University of North Texas. She is currently a student at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Profession’s speech-language pathology doctoral program with a focus on sociopolitical advocacy particularly for people living in underserved communities. She is also a mentor in the National Black Association for Speech Language and Hearing (NBASLH) Power to Empower Mentorship Program. Athena enjoys the outdoors, hiking with her two standard poodles, Josie and Wyatt.

Principles of practice, professional licensure, certification, employment, regulations, and contemporary issues. Experience with and accrual of clinical clock hours in screening, evaluation, and intervention of speech, language and hearing disorders in off-campus sites with direct supervision.
