Bio

Dr. Julia McNeil, PhD, RN, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Austin Peay State University in 2007 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2010. During her undergraduate studies, she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in recognition of her academic achievement and commitment to the nursing profession.

Dr. McNeil serves as co-advisor for the Student Nurses Association (SNA) and is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Massachusetts/Rhode Island League for Nursing.

Prior to entering academia, Dr. McNeil worked in critical care nursing and later as a critical care nurse educator, experiences that continue to influence her teaching and mentorship of future nurses. She is passionate about creating engaging learning environments that help students build confidence, strengthen clinical judgment, and connect theory to practice through simulation and hands-on learning experiences.

Her doctoral research focused on adolescents diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), specifically examining school engagement, treatment patterns, and factors associated with academic outcomes. Her work emphasizes the importance of holistic, developmentally responsive, and collaborative approaches to supporting adolescents diagnosed with ADHD across healthcare and educational settings.

Dr. McNeil is deeply committed to nursing education and enjoys supporting students as they grow into compassionate, knowledgeable, and practice-ready nurses. Outside of her professional role, she enjoys spending time with her family.
