Areas of Expertise

Bio

I conducted basic and applied research with the free-living roundworm model –Caenorhabditis elegant.  My research focuses on two aspects: 1) Investigating Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) crystal (Cry) proteins that have the potential to be developed as anthelmintics; 2) studying mechanisms of action and resistance of anthelmintics.  My research aims to develop novel and powerful anti-worm drugs and to understand the molecular mechanisms by which parasitic roundworms develop resistance.  Detailed information about my publication in those fields can be found on the following webpage:

I have served on master’s thesis committees and mentored numerous undergraduates/graduates.  I am interested in mentoring undergraduate/graduate students working in drug discovery and development or a related area with interest in any of my research foci.
