Introduction
MA Inclusive Postsecondary Education (MAIPSE) provides inclusive opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ages 18-22, to engage in Worcester State University courses and student life. Each participating student can audit 1-2 courses per semester, engage in peer mentoring with Worcester State students, gain job skills through onsite internships, and participate in campus events and clubs.
Admission Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a participating school district
- Are 18 or 19 years old and have: (A) a severe intellectual disability, severe autism spectrum disorder or other severe developmental disability; and (B) the Individualized Education Program team determined they are eligible for transition services
- Are 20 or 21 years old and have: (A) a severe intellectual disability, severe autism spectrum disorder or other severe developmental disability; and (B) not received a high school diploma
- Has demonstrated satisfactory attendance and behavior has academic and vocational interests aligned with course offerings
Program Highlights
- Enroll in college courses to enhance both academic and career success.
- Participate in person-centered planning.
- Engage in an on-campus internship.
- Collaborate with an education coach for support in academic needs, self-advocacy, and navigating campus life.
- Receive guidance through peer mentoring to navigate campus effectively.
- Meet with MAIPSE staff to ensure students are on track and making progress toward their goals.
