Dr. Hollander is Chair of the Education Department and teaches Introduction to the Teaching Professor, Literacy Education courses, The Educational Experience Through Memoir, Introduction to Liberal Studies, and First-Year Seminar. Dr. Hollander's research and creative projects focus on the transition to college and the arts in education. Her book Readiness Realities: Struggles and Successes During the Transition to College conceptualizes the college experience as a two-way relationship, and concludes that when students drop out it is a constellation of factors (financial, family, social, academic, cultural) that make it difficult to continue. She also edited the book Generation X at Middle Age in Pop Culture.Dr. Hollander is very interested in how the arts can be infused into all curricula. She is a crafter, and makes her own clothing and accessories.
