Areas of Expertise

Dr. Deane has been in nursing education for 14 years.  He joined Worcester State University in fall 2021. Dr. Deane has experience teaching in both the private and public sector, educating students at the practical nursing, associate, and bachelorette level of education.

His background of clinical practice is gerontology and care of the older adult both in the acute rehabilitation and long-term sub-acute arena.  He maintains certification through the National League for Nursing as a certified nurse educator (CNE), as well as certification as a gerontological nurse generalist (C).

His research includes a qualitative descriptive study focused on the the experience of nurse educators who transitioned from teaching in a traditional nursing curriculum to a concept-based curriculum.

Dr. Deane remains active in his local community volunteering at several local food pantry’s, and devoting time serving on his church council.
