Fall 2026 Study Away Information Sessions:
Study Away
Whether you are a student or faculty or staff member, you can participate in, help develop, and promote academic and cultural exchange, world travel, and global understanding at Worcester State University. We are committed to the internationalization of our campus, and our extensive study-away programming and International Programs Office support that goal.
We encourage you to spend time studying away or participating in international service-learning programs. As a Worcester State student, you will be able to choose from short-term, faculty-led programs and longer term programs that involve travel abroad for a summer, a semester, or an academic year to places like Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Pacific, the Middle East, or Europe. Our membership in the National Student Exchange, an extensive domestic exchange network, increases the number of experiences in which you can participate.
Why cross-cultural exchange?
• broader perspective
• greater maturity
• increased readiness to accept cultural differences
• higher graduation rates
• higher GPA
• more employable upon graduation
• higher salaries

Program Options
You can choose to study away through one of over 300 opportunities around the world for as short as a week or as long as an academic year.
Faculty-Led Programs

Faculty-Led Programs are short-term programs (one to three weeks) led by WSU faculty for credit to various locations throughout the world. Programs take place in March, May, and over the summer. These programs integrate travel and field research with classroom experience.
In order to reserve a spot on the program, students must pay the deposit ($500) by the November 1 deadline. Programs fill on a first-come, first-serve basis. The remainder of the program fee is paid in three installments.
The program page is updated every August with available programs for the upcoming academic year. Click for further information!
Exchange and Partner Programs

Study at one of Worcester State University’s partner programs for the semester or academic year.
All of WSU’s Exchange and Partner programs will cost roughly equivalent to what it costs to live on campus and attend classes at WSU for the semester. Theses are affordable programs in key locales across the world. Exchange and Partner programs also allow WSU students to integrate into the local campus culture by living in residences with students from the host institution.
Affiliated Providers

WSU partners with a number of third-party providers. Third-Party providers are U.S. based entities that act as the link between the WSU students and the program or university abroad. All affiliates will offer students support before, during, and after the study abroad program with aspects such as visas, accommodation, academics, excursions, orientation and cultural acclimation, and transcripts.
National Student Exchange

Our membership with the National Student Exchange offers you the option to study for a semester or academic year at one of nearly 200 universities in the United States, U.S. territories, and Canada. You can choose to pay WSU tuition and fees or the in-state tuition and fees of the host institution.
