A student run service where students have productive conversations about their writing (papers, essays, discussion posts, thesis, cover letters, grad letters of intent etc.)
We welcome students with writing projects that are nearly finished, projects that are not started yet, and everything in between. We can accommodate anyone. All services at the Writing Center are offered free of charge.
Students can request in-person or online appointments. To schedule an appointment or get more information about the many services available at the Writing Center, Students may call, email, or fill out one of the attached forms. Writing Consultants will monitor all channels in order to assist with appointment scheduling.
Every fall and spring semester, the Writing Center opens at the beginning of the third week and closes the day before Reading Day.
In-Person Consultation Appointments: Meet one-on-one with a writing consultant to help you work through the writing process.
*To guarantee that there is room in the schedule, it may be best to schedule an appointment ahead of time*.
Online Appointments: If you are unable to come in for an in-person consultancy session, schedule an online asynchronous (OWL) session! Submit both your assignment sheet and your work along with whatever concerns you would like to have addressed by a writing consultant. Whether it be sentence clarity, citations, transitions/flow, formatting, etc.
One-on-One Reading Sessions: Meet one-on-one with a writing consultant to work through an assigned text. In these sessions, a consultant will assist you in utilizing and developing reading comprehension strategies such as annotating, note-taking, identifying main ideas, posing analytical questions, and utilizing contextual clues in order to make assertions about a text.
