LIFE AT WSU

  • Move-In & Check-In

    Move-In Days

The new safety precautions begin, appropriately, with Move-In. Each resident will be assigned a week between August 3 - August 21 to move their belongings into their fall room assignment. To allow all students and staff to maintain a safe physical distance, all resident students will select a specific Move-In date and time using the MyHousing portal.

Move-In will be an opportunity for all residents, who are able, to move their belongings into their space early in August to avoid larger groups on the typical move-in days later in August. Residence Life will bring you to your space, unlock your door and you will have 1-2 hours to unpack and get settled, as much as possible. After you move into your room, you will go home until your official Check-In Day - August 31 for our First Year residents and September 1 for our returning residents.

The Move-In process will extend over 18 days, August 3–21. Students may not return to campus without a scheduled appointment for Move-In. Residence Life will prepare for each Move-In day, based on the number of students who have been scheduled to come to campus and move into their rooms that day. Students should be prepared to select an alternative date and time, should their first choice not be available.

    Check-In Days

Dowden Hall & Sheehan Hall Check-In

It will be our expectation that the resident is dropped off with a minimal amount of belongings and proceed through testing and then the Check-In process.

    The Check-In Process

This year your testing date and time will be determined by your check-in date and time.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate changes to day and/or time.

It is very important that if you or someone that is a close contact of yours is not feeling well or have possibly been exposed to COVID-19 that you do not come to campus to check-in for the Fall 2020 semester. Please email us so that we can coordinate a new move-in date and time for you. Symptoms include but are not limited to:

    • Fever
    • Cough
    • Sore throat
    • Chills
    • Fatigue
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

REMINDER: Please note on check-in days, Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1, no off campus guests (family or friends) will be permitted inside the residence halls. • Early Move-In

Unfortunately, we will not be inviting early arrivals to the halls this year.

    OneCard and Keys

Always be sure to carry your OneCard and any keys you are issued with you at all times. Your OneCard functions as an access card that operates both the interior and exterior residence hall entrances and room doors.

The best way to ensure your safety and to protect your belongings is to lock your room any time you leave. This is especially important during move-in/check-in when there are many people in and around the residence halls.

    Unloading and Parking

    Drop-off and Unloading

To make move-in days (August 3 - 21) as easy as possible, blue move-in carts will be available to help you and your family members unload your vehicle. Please plan to bring a majority of belongings during move-in (bedding, storage, clothing, fan, etc) as we will have limited space for full move-ins during the check-in days for anything more than a couple of bags. During check-in days (August 31 and September 1), we will not have blue move-in carts available and each student will only be given a small window of time to arrive to campus.

Please note on check-in days, no off campus guests (family or friends) will be permitted inside the residence halls. It will be our expectation that the resident is dropped off with a minimal amount of belongings and proceed through testing and then the check-in process.
