Human Rights and Social Justice Minor

Get an introduction to the history, politics, and theories of a variety of human rights issues and social justice approaches with the Human Rights and Social Justice Minor. Topics may include the Holocaust, slavery in the Americas, the Rwandan genocide, the anti-apartheid movement, LGBTQ+ persecution/oppression/rights movement, conversion therapy in the US, climate change/water safety, Native American genocide and persecution, immigration, or voter suppression.

HR-100 Introduction to Human Rights and Social Justice

Introduction to the history, politics, and theories of a variety of human rights issues and social justice approaches. HR-400 Internship in Human Rights and Social Justice

Student internship based in an organization working on human rights issues or social justice solutions. A required course for completion of the Human Rights and Social Justice Minor (may be substituted with a similar practicum course related to area of study).
2 to 6 credits

HR-450 Senior Project on Human Rights and Social Justice

Advanced research or applied project demonstrating superior attention to human rights principles and scholarship and social justice practices.
